I have a new hobby.
It's crafty and easy! I like easy!
I started making headbands and clips for Elena's hair. She has a ton of the stretchy headbands, which she wore when she was younger. But now that she is older and wiser, she will not wear them. I bought her a hard headband for Christmas pictures and she actually liked it. I started looking on Etsy and could easily have spent a lot of money on handmade headbands. But then after perusing Pinterest I started coming across tutorials to make your own. I read thru the tutorials and they seemed pretty easy to do. I decided to give it a whirl with some scrap fabric and felt I had lying around. That's all that was needed, as well as a hot glue gun (which took me about 3 days to find!)
Initially I just made clips. After finding some plain hard headbands at the store I made a few of those as well. They really are the easiest thing to make. A school aged kid could make them (with a parent helping with the hot glue!), they are that easy!
I ended up going to Joann's craft store to get a few more supplies (ribbon, clips and more fabric) to make more in different colors. You really can use any type of material. I experimented with a satin material, ruffled ribbon and even a piece of fabric from an outfit of Elena's (I used the matching diaper cover to an outfit and cut a piece of fabric from it -so she now has a clip matching a dress).
Here is a sampling of what I have made so far!
I am thinking these will make great gifts for little girls....now if only I could find a boy craft for the little man in my life ;)
